1. Desiring Wisdom

Wisdom as a major category consists of:
Creativity in being original and the ability to adapt
Curiosity in exploration and openness
Judgment in critical thinking, thinking things through, open-mindedness
Love of learning in mastering new skills & topics, systematically adding to knowledge
Perspective in providing wise counsel, taking the big picture view

Desiring wisdom has been the hallmark of the King & Queen, the Sage, and the Wise. Creating an open-minded atmosphere at home is akin to creating a safe environment for the next generation to explore this complex world. With the complexity of issues surrounding race, gender, sexuality, ethics, and technology, our children need to have this safety at home to ask questions, consider divergent viewpoints, and make explorations.

Below are three questions that may guide us to develop attitudes and aptitudes for Wisdom:

1. As parents have we examined our long-held values and habits that shaped our parenting styles? our choices in finance, education, religion, politics, etc?

2. Are we open to listening, exploring, being challenged, and thinking outside the box alongside our children?

3. What is one area of this wisdom category that I desire to grow more about?
